Project Archivist, Stagetext (fixed term, 16-month contract)

Stagetext is seeking an experienced Project Archivist for an exciting new project, Captions Speak Louder: Discovering the Story of Open Captioning. The role is a full time, fixed term, 16-month contract, based at Stagetext’s office in London.

Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Captions Speak Louder will preserve, catalogue and enhance an archive to tell the story of how open captioning - the digital display of carefully formatted verbatim text - was developed and established to make arts and culture accessible to d/Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people in the UK.

You will be responsible for cataloguing Stagetext’s archive of physical and digital records dating from 2000 to present, along with any other records donated by our users, to the standards appropriate for them to be deposited in the University of Bristol Theatre Collection. Once you have the overview of the materials, you will identify any gaps and capture up to 10 oral histories from key figures in the history of open captioning and those who have benefitted from access to arts and culture.

 

Full time, Fixed Term 16-month contract @ £30,000 pa.

Stagetext offers its employees 5 working weeks of leave per year (plus all public holidays) which equates to 33 days for full-time employees.

3% pension contribution.
