Stagetext has an exciting new opportunity for theatre lovers in the East Midlands. We are seeking four passionate theatre lovers with exceptional attention to detail to train as freelance theatre captioners.
The role of a theatre captioner is to make the spoken and sung aspects of a production accessible to d/Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing audience members through the provision and delivery of specially formatted text.
The role means working behind the scenes in theatres, so availability at evenings and weekends is a must. Due to its freelance nature, we cannot guarantee full time hours, but a captioner can expect to earn between £250-£600 per assignment once qualified.
A full role profile and person specification can be downloaded below.
There is a non-refundable deposit of £50 for the training, with the remainder of the training fees generously subsidised by funding from the Garrick Charitable Trust and the Leathersellers’ Company Charitable Fund.
To apply please complete the spelling and punctuation test, fill out the application form and send them to Olivia Powell (Theatre Programme Manager) firstname.lastname@example.org by midday on 31st January 2019.
If you have any queries, please feel free to contact Olivia.
We look forward to hearing from you!
