Deaf Awareness Week 15 – 21 May

From 15-21 May 2017 Deaf Awareness Week will celebrate collaborative work that has made a difference for people who are deaf or have a hearing loss.

Promoted by the UK Council on Deafness, Deaf Awareness Week is an opportunity to raise awareness that 1 in 6 people in the UK are deaf, deafened or hard of hearing.

There are a variety of Stagetext captioned events taking place across the UK during Deaf Awareness Week:


Screenings of director Naoko Yamada’s anime A Silent Voice with digital cinema captions by Stagetext are taking place on Tue 16 May 7:00pm in Showcase Cinemas in Leeds, Bristol, Cardiff, Leicester, Nottingham, Reading, Peterborough, Bluewater and Southampton.

Cheek by Jowl's production of The Winter's Tale is also available to watch online, with digital subtitles by Stagetext, until 22 May.
