President of Japan’s Theatre Accessibility network wins prestigious award

Stagetext would like to congratulate the president of Japan’s Theatre Accessibility network (TA-net), Asako Hirokawa, who has won the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Art Encouragement Prize for New Artists (of development of the arts), presented on 15 March 16.

TA-net is a non-for-profit organisation established in 2012 by a group of deaf people, aiming to support, as well as to give a voice to, every deaf and disabled audience member who wishes to enjoy the performing arts, in Japan.

Stagetext had the pleasure of meeting some of the TA-net team last year, when they visited London and attended a presentation on the work of Stagetext, in addition to enjoying a captioned performance at The Scoop at More London.

Here’s to more captioning and accessibility to the arts internationally, as well as in the UK.

Please visit the What's on pages on our website for up-to-date details of captioned shows and talks with live subtitles.
