Synopsis:

As Picnic at Hanging Rock is set in Australia, we would like to make the following Acknowledgement of Country: Along with Reconciliation Australia, RADA acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past and present.

A journey into timeless, unusual and ancient places as five performers retell the story of three schoolgirls, who disappeared in the Australian Wilderness. They were last seen in 1900 on a picnic expedition to the remote edifice known as Hanging Rock.

Tom Wright adapts Joan Lindsay’s chilling cult classic, here produced in a visceral promenade production where performers intermingle with audience, and the shocks and horror of the novel are brought to life. An immersive reckoning between colonial civilisation and the ancient Australia it tried to ignore.
