Every word counts

Light Shining in Buckinghamshire at the National Theatre

By Marilyn Griffin

I am quite a keen theatre goer but have recently favoured the smaller theatres and the addition of a hearing loop.

I have been to captioned performances before and enjoyed them very much - the most recent being Light Shining in Buckinghamshire by Caryl Churchill at the National.  I was absolutely thrilled with this performance and the Stagetext captions and was also very impressed at the theatre staff and their efforts to make the play accessible on so many levels.  They went to great length to ensure that I was sitting in the right place, they issued me with neck loop and tested it before the show and of course the captions themselves were excellent.
