Watercolours from the Wallace Collection image
Synopsis:

Dr Lucy Davis, Curator of Turner and Bonington: Watercolours from the Wallace Collection will be joined by Dr Amy Concannon to discuss J.M.W. Turner and Richard Parkes Bonington as two brilliant watercolourists, who effected great changes in the way that watercolour was both used and perceived. Their discussion will include the state of the field when the artists emerged on the scene, how they changed it, and the role watercolour played in their careers.

They will also consider how these works were regarded by their contemporaries as well as how they were kept, displayed, and more widely disseminated.
About the speakers: Lucy Davis has been Curator of Paintings and Miniatures at the Wallace Collection since 2011. She has written numerous articles on works in the collection, especially on Flemish painting, her specialist field.

Dr Amy Concannon is Manton Senior Curator of Historic British Art at Tate. She is a specialist in Romantic art and its social contexts, particularly landscape, watercolour and print culture.
