Join in at the Photography Centre for a conversation between Simone C. Niquille, maker of the computer-generated film Sorting Song (2021), and Natalie Kane, V&A Curator of Digital Design.
Sorting Song, by Dutch designer and researcher Simone C. Niquille, makes visible the protocols and data that shape digital representations of our environment. Taking the format of an educational nursery rhyme, the work seeks to push beyond what appears naïve and unsettle a world of digitally coded assumptions. Niquille’s film reveals the mistakes and absurdities that occur in computer vision, which lacks important human context.
