Join Gallery Educator and artist Joanna Conybeare for a special talk and draw session marking Black History Month. Together, we will explore representations of Black and minority figures within the collection, considering how identity, visibility and lived experience have been portrayed and understood through historic works of art.
Through a guided online workshop, participants will examine selected artworks and reflect on the stories they tell, as well as those that may be absent. The session involves relaxed and fun creative activities, offering an opportunity to respond creatively to the themes and artworks explored.
Suitable for all levels of experience, talk and draw combines close looking, conversation and drawing in a welcoming and informal environment. No drawing experience is necessary – just bring along some paper and any art materials you would like to experiment with.
The session will take place online and will last approximately one hour.
