Join curator Dr Alice Christophe as she discusses the context, scope, themes and highlight objects from Hawaiʻi: a kingdom crossing oceans.
Christophe will discuss how the exhibition has been shaped together with Hawaiian knowledge-bearers, building on years of collaboration with Hawaiian artists, practitioners and scholars.
Introduced and chaired by Dr Julie Adams, Acting Keeper of the Department of Africa, Oceania and the Americas at the British Museum, the exhibition tells a compelling story of movement, alliance and cultural exchange – past, present and future – and sheds light on Hawaiʻi’s history and culture through an exploration of the complex and enduring relationship between the Hawaiian and British nations.
This event is part of the public programme supporting the exhibition Hawaiʻi: a kingdom crossing oceans (15 January – 25 May 2026).
