Curator’s Introduction: The Last Caravaggio image
Synopsis:

Discover our new exhibition, ‘The Last Caravaggio’ in this online introduction by curator Francesca Whitlum-Cooper.

Caravaggio created striking works in the years before his early death, featuring violent scenes of which Caravaggio was no stranger. Exhibition curator Francesca Whitlum-Cooper will explore these paintings in this context and reflect on violence today.

Francesca will discuss the artist and his characteristic style of cropped scenes and dramatic lighting. She will share the stories of Saint Ursula and Salome, and she will discuss the lasting impact of Caravaggio’s paintings.

Following the talk, Francesca will answer any questions you may have in a live Q&A.
