Chance and purpose in the evolution of biospheres image
Synopsis:

Discussion meeting organised by Professor Philip Donoghue, Professor Anja Spang, Professor Tim Lenton, Professor Samir Okasha, and Professor Graham Shields.
The meeting will bring together philosophers and scientists from diverse backgrounds to address how stable biospheres evolve: whether they are a result of chance events or instead the inevitable consequence of the evolutionary interplay between the organisms and their environments. The meeting will inevitably consider Earth history, but also exoplanets and simulated exobiospheres.
The schedule, speaker biographies, and abstracts will be available closer to the meeting date.
