What can we do to confront the climate crisis? image
Synopsis:

The next ten years will define the earth’s fate. What can we do to confront the climate crisis?

Climate campaigners Jonathon Porritt and Dr Alice Bell discuss how we got here and what we must do next.

It’s not too late, as long as we act now, together.

If you want to take effective action on climate change, join us for this urgent conversation.

It’s an opportunity to talk about what’s come out of Glasgow’s COP26 conference (a major international conference to tackle the climate crisis) and falls at the end of Richmond council’s climate week.

Jonathon Porritt, author of Hope in Hell, has decades of experience as a campaigner and is an eminent commentator on sustainable development. He is co-founder of Forum for the Future, a former director of Friends of the Earth and former co-chair of the Green Party.

Hope in Hell asks us, in the wake of the pandemic, to promote economic recovery in a way that addresses the climate emergency.

Campaigner and former academic Alice Bell co-runs the climate change charity Possible.

Her book Our Biggest Experiment: A History of the Climate Crisis chronicles the history of our understanding of climate change. Our ancestors have left us an almighty mess, but also tools for survival.

‘Is there time? Just. Is there hope? Plenty. Hope in Hell is brave, urgent and wise – in fact, one of the most important books any of us may read.’ Journalist John Vidal on Hope in Hell
