‘Virtual Veronese’ is a new digital experience enabling you to see how Paolo Veronese’s ‘Consecration of Saint Nicholas’ would have looked in its original setting, the church of San Benedetto al Po near Mantua, Italy.
Art historian and former Ahmanson Curator Dr Rebecca Gill will discuss the evolution of this exciting project, from its beginning as an art historical research project to its culmination as an innovative virtual reality experience. She will give an insight into the various stages involved in creating a virtual reality experience, from scanning the church, to recording music and filming actors. She’ll also discuss the opportunities and pitfalls of digital technology for art historians, and how technology can be used to find new ways of engaging audiences with a museum collection.
Rebecca’s talk will be pre-recorded, and we will be joined by Lawrence Chiles, Head of Digital Services, who will introduce the project, and answer your questions in a live Q&A.
