Using illustration to develop reading and writing image
Synopsis:

Primary teachers! Join our free virtual session with much-loved artists and experts, full of ideas to inspire young authors and illustrators
About this event
Do you remember how you first found your passion for books?
Book illustrations jump into our imaginations as young children – bringing stories to life on the page and in our minds. Images of the Gruffalo, Winnie-the-Pooh and the Tiger Who Came to Tea live in our hearts and ignite our life-long love affairs with books.
Research from the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education shows that engaging children with book illustration supports them to develop sophisticated reading skills and become stronger independent writers.
At this event we will delve into the evidence on the vital role of illustration in engaging children with books and provide accessible, ready-to-teach activities from children’s book illustrators and authors.
