Synopsis:
Join Arthur Bijl, Hutton McRoberts Assistant Curator of Ottoman, Middle Eastern and Asian Arms and Armour for a talk on a unique dagger made in medieval Herat. Find out how this dagger, far from simply being a weapon of war, is the product of a complex visual culture patronised by the city’s reigning monarch. Arthur will draw parallels between contemporary architecture, manuscript painting and leather working to show how the dagger is positioned in art history.
