Faithful and Fearless: Portraits of Dogs image
Synopsis:

Throughout history, dogs and humans have had a special relationship based on trust, loyalty and friendship – a relationship frequently immortalised in art. To celebrate the publication of his new book, Faithful and Fearless: Portraits of Dogs, Wallace Collection director Dr Xavier Bray invites renowned vet Dr Bruce Fogle MBE, to reflect on the history of this abiding connection between dog and human, and the role of the dog in art. Focusing on a small selection of the paintings, drawings, sculpture and taxidermy featured in the book, Dr Bray and Dr Fogle will explore the particularly British phenomenon of having one’s dog portrayed in all shapes and forms.
