Ease into this online session with a short guided meditation to help settle the mind and come into the present moment, you’ll be introduced to looking closely at one artwork from our collection through guided drawing prompts. Drawing with mindfulness invites us to be more fully aware of our sensory experience – the lines and shapes of the manuscript, the movement and touch of the pencil, the rise and fall of the breath as we draw. Coming into our senses like this can help us to feel more focused and grounded, and has a positive effect on our sense of wellbeing.
Our focus painting comes from the medieval manuscript The Bedford Hours and marks the transition from winter to spring, bringing us into greater awareness of the colours and new beginnings of seasonal change. The session ends with an opportunity to reflect on your experience, before closing with a mindful pause.
This course takes place on Zoom and we will email you a joining link the day before. There will be an opportunity to reflect on your experience with your fellow participants and share your responses with the tutor.
