Painter and sculptor Maggi Hambling CBE discusses finding truth and compassion in the work of Francis Bacon, with Courtney J. Martin, Paul Mellon Director of the Yale Center for British Art.

Join us for this online event in which Maggi Hambling offers an artist’s perspective on Francis Bacon, to coincide with the RA exhibition Francis Bacon: Man and Beast.
 
One of Britain’s foremost contemporary artists, Maggi Hambling has established a reputation over the last four decades as one of Britain’s most significant and controversial artists, a singular contemporary force whose work continues to move, seduce and challenge. In this special in-conversation with Courtney J. Martin, Hambling shares her insight into the intensity, imagination and truth found in painting, and explores the intersection of humanity and animality featured in Bacon’s work.
 
There will be an opportunity for audience questions at the end of the event.
