Create a hand stitched and embellished slogan or saying on our online course.
This course takes place across two days, Wednesday 7 April 2021 and Wednesday 14 April 2021, both at 16.00 – 17.30.
From the very beginnings of the feminist movement, domestic arts such as embroidery have been utilised by women around the world to promote and protest for equal opportunities.
Inspired by our exhibition Unfinished Business: The Fight for Women’s Rights, we give you the opportunity to explore the concept of embroidery as ‘gentle protest’.
Using simple embroidery techniques and with tutor support, you will create a beautiful hand stitched and embellished slogan or saying, presented in a wooden embroidery hoop.
From novice crafters to those who want to develop their existing skills this session will give you the chance to explore the very rewarding and beautiful art of embroidery.
Materials will be posted to you so ticket sales will end at midnight on 26 March. Please book before this date to make sure you receive your materials before the course date.
This course takes place on Zoom and we will email you a joining link the day before. There will be an opportunity to ask the tutor Emma Stretton questions during a Q&A, and have conversations with your fellow participants in virtual breakout rooms.
This event will have live subtitles provided by Stagetext, delivered by MyClearText.
