Genre: Event with live subtitles

One of the biggest names in crime fiction, Val McDermid writes electrifyingly suspenseful novels filled with warmth, wit and vividly memorable characters. Her latest, How the Dead Speak, brings Dr Tony Hill and DCI Carol Jordan together again, when the remains are found of a killer who is supposedly alive and in prison. A multi-award-winning and No 1 bestselling author, Val is also the creator of the Lindsay Gordon, Kate Brannigan and DCI Karen Pirie series.

This event will also have a short introduction to Nell Pattison, an exciting new voice in crime fiction. In her debut, The Silent House, a young girl is murdered, but her family are deaf, so BSL interpreter Paige Northwood is called in to help the police investigation. Having started to lose her hearing in her 20s, Nell draws on her own experience for this gripping thriller.

This event will have live subtitles provided by Stagetext.
