Synopsis

London Literature Festival presents An Evening with Armistead Maupin

Join the Tales of the City author for an evening of his favourite tales on his first ever UK tour, in conversation with Neil Gaiman.

Much-loved author and LGBTQI+ activist Armistead Maupin has been blazing a trail through US popular culture since the 1970s, when his groundbreaking series Tales of the City was first published as a column in the San Francisco Chronicle.

The column, which recounted stories of a group of friends in San Francisco and included gay and trans characters, became a series of novels that was first adapted for TV in a Channel 4 miniseries in 1993.

Netflix recently released a much-anticipated sequel series, starring Laura Linney, Olympia Dukakis and Ellen Page.
