Synopsis

Ilkley Literature Festival presents Richard King: The Music of the British Landscape

In The Lark Ascending, a chronological journey from post-war poets to acid house, music writer Richard King explores how Britain’s history and identity has been shaped by the mysterious relationship between music and nature.

Through a series of ‘headphone walks’ and reflective interviews with musicians and filmmakers, King listens closely to Britain’s rural landscapes and the compositions of musicians inspired by its beauty and drama – from Brian Eno, Kate Bush, Boards of Canada and Dylan Thomas to Gavin Bryars, Greenham Common and The Kinder Scout Mass Trespass.

This event will have live subtitles presented by Stagetext.
