Synopsis

Peter Standford talks to Baroness Rabbi Julia Neuberger about the history and philosophy of Angels. 

Peter James Stanford is a British writer, editor, journalist and presenter, known for his biographies and writings on religion and ethics. His biography of Lord Longford was the basis for the 2006 BAFTA-winning film Longford starring Jim Broadbent in the title role. A former editor of the Catholic Herald newspaper, Stanford is also director of the Longford Trust for prison reform.

Baroness Rabbi Julia Neuberger attended South Hampstead High School and Newnham College, Cambridge, where she studied Assyriology. She obtained her rabbinic diploma at Leo Baeck College, London, where she taught from 1977–97. She was chancellor of the University of Ulster from 1994–2000.

Baroness Neuberger, DBE, is a member of the British House of Lords. She formerly took the Liberal Democrat whip but resigned from the party and joined the Crossbenches in September 2011 upon becoming the full-time senior rabbi to the West London Synagogue.
