Synopsis

The need for artists to promote themselves in the 'market place' is not a modern phenomenon. Self-portraiture has been one of the principal devices in this campaign of self-promotion. In the lecture Martin Clayton, exhbition co-curator, will examine some of the ploys adopted by artists from Leonardo to David Hockney.
