I’m not a member of the Financial Times brigade, so if you said to me a few months ago that I would be thoroughly enjoying a couple of plays about the intricacies of the world of commerce, I would have scoffed at the very idea. Like THE POWER OF YES at the National Theatre, ENRON centred on human greed and corruption, which had me gobsmacked and riveted. The captions superbly coped with the fast-paced production and its occasionally overlapping dialogue, which made you feel as if you were working for Enron. An unforgettable evening. Thank you, STAGETEXT.

I had heard this was a fast and wordy production and knew it would be a waste of time me going except to a captioned performance because I am quite deaf. The captions helped enormously but I would have liked to read the words a split second before hearing them. As it was, I felt I was struggling to keep up, if only by a beat or two.
I have long since ignored the loop system which so many theatres boast because, almost always, it doesn't work. Thanks, STAGETEXT, without you I would stop going to the theatre altogether. Funny how the sound in even the most ordinary cinema doesn't give people like me any problem at all.
