Every word counts

Stagetext Talks deliver 58 Events in March

March 2017 has been an extremely busy month for Stagetext’s Talks, as we subtitled a tremendous 58 events in just one month. Accessible talks and tablet tours took place at London’s Jewish Book Week and The Royal Society, plus Huddersfield Literary Festival and Women of the World in Hull, to name but a few.

The Talks department in Stagetext works with museums, galleries and literary festivals to make their talks and lectures accessible through live subtitles. It started operating in 2010, with its first official event taking place in 2011 and its grown to deliver over 200 events year on year.

A speech-to-text reporter (STTR) transcribes every word a speaker says using a special electronic shorthand keyboard which allows them to type phonetically. The words are then immediately displayed on a screen or a handheld tablet.

The rest of the year is looking just as busy and we have many live subtitled talks lined up which can be found on our What’s On pages

To receive the Talks monthly e-news of live subtitled events, please email enquiries@stagetext.org or Contact Us to find out more.
