Digital Theatre announce plans to caption all productions

Digital Theatre, in partnership with Stagetext, is planning to caption all of its recorded productions to make them accessible to deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people.

The announcement, coinciding with Deaf Awareness Week 2016, will lead to the entire catalogue of Digital Theatre productions being available with captions, alongside the eight captioned shows already available through the platform.

Stagetext’s CEO Melanie Sharpe said: ‘Stagetext and Digital Theatre’s continued partnership is bringing great theatre to people’s homes in an exciting and accessible way.’

Digital Theatre’s Production Manager Stephen Quinn stated: ‘With over 13,000 minutes of content it's our aim to have 100% of this material captioned as soon as possible. Digital Theatre has an ongoing remit to make the performing arts accessible to all.’
